A Solidarity Movement For Gender Equality #HeforShe

When the stakes are high, you commit to the work.

This week Emma Watson announced UN Women’s #HeForShe campaign, a gender solidarity movement that encourages men and boys to take action.

At the UN Headquarters in New York, Watson delivered a passionate speech about the misconception of feminism and her “uncomplicated” position on equality (watch below).

Watson stated, “I want men to take up this mantle. So their daughters, sisters and mothers can be free from prejudice, but also so that their sons have permission to be vulnerable and human too.”

#HeForShe aims to end gender inequality by 2030 by engaging men and boys as advocates in this important conversation. “When women are empowered, the whole of humanity benefits,” said UN Women Executive Director Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka.

Take Action: Ask the men in your life to join the movement and pledge support here.
